I have a 97 4Runner, with the 4cyl and 5 speed transmission.
Recently my clutch failed at 140K miles.
I have removed the bolts attaching the engine and transmission, including the 2 difficult to reach ones at the top, but the transmission still refuses to separate from the engine.
I can rock the transmission from side to side, with about 1/8 inch of movement between the transmission and the engine, measured at the bottom of the transmission, where the plate was which protects the front of the flywheel was. I can freely move the steel plate between the engine and the transmission at this point as well.
Unfortunately, the transmission still seems stuck at the top, and I cant get any movement at the top of the transmission when I shake the tail housing.
Does anyone have any advice how to get the the engine and transmission unstuck?
