Codes stored without check engine light?

Is this possible, for there to be any fault codes without a check engine light.

yep. i know that a fault must seen by the computer a certain number of times before the CEL is triggered. i think the fault has to happen 40 times before its triggered. as soon as the first fault is seen, it is stored in the memory.
