Coilovers: do Runners and Tacos use the same equipment?

Hey guys, are the coilover assemblies on 3rd gen Runners and 1st gen tacos interchangeable? If I found aftermarket coilovers for a 1st gen taco, would they fit my Runner? Thanks in advance.

almost positive they would work.... Could just call Toytec and ask if they sell the same shock part numbers when selling for the Taco or T4R. I am 99% sure they will work though.

Yes they will work without a doubt. The only difference is that the 3 studs on the top mount are rotated a few degrees. All you need to do is slide those in first, then use a screwdriver as a lever bar and rotate the lower mount into place. Very simple, and takes no time.

Tacoma front struts have softer compression/damper valving which don't exactly do an excellent in 4runner applications in some instances like the Tacoma 5100's. First gen tundra 5100's do a better job because they weigh a tad more than the 4runner.

I think Billies are a little out of my price range. I was looking at a set of Rancho Quick-lift shocks for the front. On the Rancho website though, it doesn't show that this shock is offered for 4Runner, it is however available for Tacoma. Could it be that they just haven't added it to their list of parts they make for 4Runners on the website yet?

also, these quick lift shocks have adjustable dampening. Wouldn't that make up for the softer valving?

Tundra front Bilstein 5100's and 4Runner rear HD's cost me $298 shipped with the 10% promo code that is generally always available. Took about 1 month because of back order though. Just an FYI for price comparison purposes.

They work fine. I know of plenty of people that run them and have no complaints or issues. I'm not sure why people keep saying that they are too soft because i know for a fact that they work. They are definitely not any softer than the stock shocks.
