This is simply too cool! This is a comparison by journalists of many 2003 models...however, no Honda CRV yet.
Canadian comparative test data of 2003 new model cars and trucks now available online
Automotive journalists from all across Canada, are taking part this week in a four-day back-to-back evaluation of 53 brand new 2003 cars and trucks at Shannonville Motorsports Park, near Belleville, Ontario. The annual Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) "Test Fest" takes place from Wednesday, October 23 through Saturday, October 26th.
Millions of dollars worth of new model vehicles are presented to the journalists for their evaluation on a test track and on "public roads" - where consumers drive. Test teams compare every vehicle in a class, back-to-back, on the same surfaces, under the same conditions to ensure objective evaluations.
And consumers can compare braking, acceleration, steering and handling performance of these new model cars and trucks by visiting www.ajac.ca - the Association's web site. Click here to access the comparative test data directly.
As of today, all of the comparative performance data produced by the journalists during Test Fest are available to consumers for their use as a buyers' resource guide via the AJAC web site.
Every detail, from safety features to cargo capacity, is thoroughly scrutinized, discussed, and individually rated by secret ballot. Those ballots are then tabulated by the international accounting firm KPMG. The results are kept confidential - even from AJAC - until the "Best New" category winners are announced on Thursday, November 21st, at the Montreal International Auto Show.
Photos documenting the annual TestFest can be found on the AJAC web site along with text updates on the journalists' evaluation progress.
The overall Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Truck of the Year will be subsequently declared on press day of the Canadian International AutoShow, Wednesday, February 12, 2003.
Global Television will be airing coverage of the AJAC Car of the Year Awards "TestFest" on the program MoneyWise, Monday, October 28th, hosted by car enthusiast Rob Davidson. Check local listings for times.
Consumers should also be sure to pick up a copy of the Toronto Star on Thursday, Oct. 31st for a TestFest special edition of the Wheels section.
The Drivers' Edge section of the National Post will also provide consumers with TestFest coverage.
