Well after seeing Glen's computer mount i had to have one. I often have passengers in the vehicle so i wanted to be sure that there would be enough room for them. I got most of this off ebay, but it all can be found at Home depot. Let me know what you think, here it is:

i like that. looks good with that flexible tube around it. Can't wait to hear how stable it is on the trail. Good Idea

my girlfriend was right i should have gone with the black steering wheel cover....lol

went with a light brown one to try and blend with the beige, it looks really "old man" , either that or i think my 4runner is a porsche and i should be wearing driving gloves... yeah i know off topic but it was the first thing i noticed.....

anyone else think the stock wheel is very very slippery?

yeah it seems to be really good on the road. It'll be interesting to see how it works off road.

that steering wheel cover caught my eye too-where would I find that?
I'm not sure where you could get one like this. I found mine in a junkyard off a '98 4runner. I asked the junk yard how much they wanted for it and the dude said i could just have it. Can't beat that! I also bought the front seats out of that '98 so i think thats why he just gave me the steering wheel cover for free.

saw that very same exact one just 30 mins ago at pep boys for 15.99,

i went with the super skin leather wrap style for 5.99...but now i have it on there i'm not sure i like the wrap around style i think i prefer the slip-fit ones like in the photo above.

was going to post a link to it but their site sucks, searching for "steering wheel covers" it keep on saying they don't sell tires anymore over the net.
not what i wanted! lol

but i swear to you i really did just see that same one just a minute ago.

Only one bolt? How stable is that?

And maybe I'm out of the loop...purpose of having a laptop in the car? (for a reason other than tuning a stand alone ECU)

dont worry its not going anywhere.

The purpose for having the computer is mainly for mapping. When on the trail you can know your exact position on a topographic map through GPS. It's also nice when there is a traffic jam and you want to know if any side streets go through. That actually happened to us a couple months ago. We were at a dead stop in traffic and Glen got on his computer and saw that the road we were next to went connected back to the highway a few miles down. They had closed the highway because of an accident. We avoided it completely and had the road to ourselves.

Plus i can hook it up to my stereo and i got all of my itunes available to listen to music or passangers can watch movies. I feel like it will come in quite handy.

hahaha! I got an iphone, but i dont think they have a national geographic topo map application available! lol.

"...there's an app for just about...anything"

come on you know the commercial!

actually I don't think there is a topo map available...I might be wrong. If there it, it's expensive haha just like all the cool apps

oh well, computer mount = awesome!

The does look slick I would like to put one in mine but don't drive it as much to very useful. Plus can't get the net where I go.

I dont have a NET card so I just downloaded the Topo Maps onto my Garmin GPS device. Once I get more funds will probably replace the Garmin with a Lowrance 580. That will be after the lockers and regear though. Need to set Mod priority right...lol

Looks good, but to me, the first thing I think of, is where would that laptop computer end up in a major collision??? Anything lose like that in a car, is not very safe. Sorry for sounding like a wiener, but I've been in a major crash with one of my other cars, and found that even my detachable face plate on my JVC Headunit ended up in the back seat! Just imagine that laptop hitting you square in the face at 60 or 70mph!

Again, great looking mod though!

yeah i was thinking about getting some velcro straps or something to hold it down. We'll see. I might end up taking it out except for wheeling trips. Depends on how the girl feels about it. I'm guessing i'll get negative feedback.
