I'm looking at replacing my current tires either with these or with Michelin defenders. For those that have had the cooper discoverer at3 4s, how have your mpg's been?

No change in mpg for me.
edit - to elaborate, I'm running the same 35psi in the coopers as I was in the dunlop AT 20's. My driving style or where I drive has not changed.
I still give these 5 stars. Snow this winter will be the last test

I was surprised to see all of the positive comments regarding these in snow. I put a set on a 2014 Ram 1500 and they seemed to do OK at first, but really lost their grip after about 10k miles.
The tires I ran before them were the Cooper ST MAXX and they were phenomenal in the snow and dirt, but very pricey.
The AT3s were good tires and did surprisingly well in the dirt and rocks. Rode nice and seemed to wear OK.
But, up here, I have to have a tire that does exceptionally well in the snow.
Thinking about trying out the Kumho AT51 tire next...

Just replaced my old tires with these in 265/70/17 p rated. Very happy with them after a few thousand miles. Highway mileage went down by approximately 1 mpg. They have a nice aggressive look but are still understated. Solid choice so far especially if you spend most of your time on pavement.

Do you get any rubbing with this size? Reverse, full lock, etc.?
I've got the older AT3's in the 265/65/17 but am considering getting the new 4s in 265/70/17.

I am close to pulling the trigger on these for the same reasons as you, except to replace a set of AT3's in 2757017C. Looking like the 275's will not be available anymore in C. I don't do much more than dirt and gravel roads so even the C's were probably overkill. After close inspection of my current setup, I will definitely need to do some adjusting/trimming to make these fit. Will post up my experience if I do.
Same. Been thinking about the AT3 4S, but also hear great things about the Wildpeaks. been tossing these around as they seem like a similar tire.
Just had the Cooper AT3 4s P285 70 17's installed yesterday as replacements for 275 70 17 Cooper AT 3's in C. 4Regrets Before my 275 Coopers I also ran the old BFG 275 70 17's in E. According to the specs the 285's are several pounds lighter per tire despite being 1/2 an inch larger in diameter and I believe just a bit over 1/2 an inch wider. Obviously the P rating is impacting the weight.
As with most folks upsizing their tires I wondered about rubbing. Checked things out this morning and only rubbing is on the front wheel liner at close to full lock. It is only touching that vertical ridge piece that sticks out into the wheel well about 1/2 an inch. If I trim or push the liner forward about a 1/4 of an inch it would clear.
Only have about 15 miles on the tires. Ride feels much softer in a good way. Also much more quiet than the 275's, but the tread wear on the 275's likely contributed to the increases loudness over the last year or so.
Last thought, to me the tire looks much larger than my 275 Coopers despite only being both only a 1/2 inch larger in diameter and approx. 1/2 inch wider in width. Will post up pics in a bit when I can remember how to do it.

Just installed my Cooper AT3 4s last month and I'm very pleased with their performance. They are buttery smooth on the highway and no noise at all. Grip in the dry and wet pavement is good also. In the dirt, they hook up nicely though I haven't tried these cooper tires in deep mud and gravel yet.

I think I'll be going with these. 2020 4Runner ORP. 98% off driving is on pavement, but I take between 6-8 trips to Northern VA per year and go offroad. None of these trails are difficult, but one day I'd like to work my way up to intermediate.
The selection of tires is overwhelming but this seems to be the most suggested for a pavement T4R with the occasional off road.

Old post dig- I used the AT 51's on my 2nd gen 4Runner, my '10 Xterra and my '16 Frontier. They are a fantastic tire in snow, pretty quiet on the road and are priced reasonably. The most recent set I had on my Frontier gave me a lot of cold-morning "thump" and took a bunch of weight to balance, but the others not so much. It's a decent tire that looks great, but I think the QC could be better.

Has anyone looked at running the Cooper LT's? I like all the praise that the AT3 4S gets, but I am curious if the LT's have anything more to offer? I don't really think I want 285s, which is the smallest size of the XLT, unfortunately.

Any additional updates on these after more miles? Maybe a brief road and trail manner description if you don't mind. I am considering this tire in 285, really wish they had a 275 offering though. And what kind of milage are you getting with these? I have to commute to trails/mountains so Im looking for a capable tire that isn't going to absolutely destroy milage. Thanks.
