Cooper, Firestone, or Yoko?

Hey guys! I'm looking for new tires for the runner and I've narrowed it down to Cooper discoverer at3, Firestone destination at, and Yoko geolander ats. I live in western NY, so good winter traction is important. However this is my daily driver, so I don't want too much road noise. The specs all look about the same, except the coopers have slightly deeper tread at 16/32. Anyone with firsthand knowledge please give me your opinion. Thanks!

I've had my AT3's for 22k now and they are great. On and off road they are great. I highly recommend them.

Cooper makes awesome tires. I have the MTs, but they're well made and really cool. I've had mine for 15K miles and barely have any signs of cupping or anything. I say go Cooper, the AT3s are cool

Those are the exact 3 I had it narrowed down to. I didn't buy yet, but before the winter I'm going with the Cooper at3's.

what made you choose the coopers?

Check out the Cooper ATP's. Just got them and like them so far. Looking forward to winter in Northern Az.

I have the yoko for about 10000 miles and there great no road noise really and havent given me any problems and i've herd they last

Reviews mainly. And my father in law put them on his Explorer and they look incredible. I just stare at them every time I'm at their house... Lol.

I went with Cooper AT3s for my 4Runner.

1. Found a good deal ~$760 OTD for stock 265/65/17
2. Made in America
3. 55k treadwear warranty. Good siping too.

I had Firestone Destination ATs on my wrangler and they ere a fine tire. Yet when comparing to the Coopers they lost on the three criteria listed above.

I have a tread around here somewhere with pcs. Just about to break 800 miles on them.

I was looking at Godyear Silent Armors too but the price was too high.

I've had two sets of the Destination AT's on a previous vehicle and I was very happy with them. I'm even considering selling my brand new BFG KO's and going back to the destinations.

I have Cooper AT3's. They are excellent tires. I visit upstate NY (Pulaski area) during the winter a couple times a year. The AT3's handle the snow very well. They are EXCELLENT in wet weather. A little noisy...but that's to be expected for a AT type tire.

You need a good AT tire or a dedicated snow tire for Western NY...especially around the great lakes region. Lake Effect snow can account for 100+ inches of snow a year. ...and you never know when or where it's going to hit.

If you can find them, and wanna go with Cooper tires, look for Herculese. They are made by Cooper, have the same specs and are cheaper.
Personally I run Hankooks. Getting popular in the Great NE.

Actually there are several brands made by cooper. But not all cooper tires are then translated to their other brands. Master Craft is another tire made by Cooper. There is no Master Craft tire like the AT3's. There is a similar tire for the Discovery HT and AT.

I know the Pulaski area well. We frequently drive through there on our winter camping trips. It's good to here that those Coopers handle the snow well!

I grew up in Pulaski and learned how to drive there. If you can drive in snow there...you can drive almost anywhere. We had one winter when I was just learning how to drive where we had OVER 400" of snow. That's 4 times more then Boston's all time snow record.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I went with the Firestone Destination AT's. Even though most of you guys liked the Cooper's, there were way more reviews online for the Destinations. They really seem like a great tire. The deciding factor was their road manners. They are probably slightly less aggressive than the coops, but there is no road noise with them. And even though I like to play off road, the reality is that 80% of my driving is on the highway.
I sized up to a 70 profile, so I ended up with 265/70/17. They just barely fit! With the wheel turned, there's about an 1/8 inch to spare. So far no rubbing. I'll keep you posted to how they wear.

As a side note; do you guys rotate your spare as the manual states to do?

That's interesting. I've had mine on for over a year and 10k miles with no noticeable noise. They are awesome in every condition, even aired down to 18psi and I have the P rated 285's. I love these tires but I need more sidewalk protection. They haven't popped or sliced them yet and I've abused these tires on numerous trails!

You really can't go wrong with any of those 3 tires!
