it's an unusually warm winter this year. decided to hand wash the truck instead of taking it to the auto car wash. not sure how everyone does it but it's quite difficult to wash the top of the truck and the windshield, even when using the nfab steps and rear tire. i may use a step stool in combination with the front tires next time cause i had a heck of a time reaching the middle of the top of the windshield. or do people use some sort of broom/brush on a stick? i may need to seriously consider building that rack so i don't have to wash up there! lol.

played with plastidip again and did the middle of the front bumper. got the idea from another member's truck and like the looked. will also help with bugs and chips so a win win. i still need to do the front emblem as i ran out of plastidip so that will be done another day. one quick tip, i used electrical tape instead of blue painter's tape this time to do my cut line as the electrical tape was more flexible. can't do sharp curves but a gradual curve worked fine and i did not have any bleeding. just thought i'd share.

sorry about crappy phone pics, truck was also in the shade so that didn't help.

wanted to get everyone else's though, should i dip the middle piece (below the front emblem)?

I just joined the community two weeks ago after selling my Tundra for T4R.

I've already spent 2 grand on toys for it.

Looks good as is with the chrome emblem on the front and the black chin and white bar, thanks for the tip with the electrical tape!

One other option is to do the chin white and middle bar dark gray when you want to change it up.

We pretty much bought the exact same 4Runner, except I got the graphite interior. Our price point was really similar, I think I paid $33,900 before all the dealer fees/taxes, etc. Took them over a month to find me a 4x4 down here in Florida but I got what I wanted. I've also plasti-dipped all the badges which really changes the look of the vehicle. Husky mats were the first thing I bought for the truck, they are absolutely fantastic. Wish you the best, truck looks awesome brother!

ok, did the front emblem today in 50 degree weather. had to put the can in hot water for a bit to warm it up to allow it to spray easier (not as thick and more consistent). think it looks better black myself. also, here's a shot of the rear done.

i've got some new to me wheels coming and it will stay with the black theme. hopefully can have it installed by next weekend.

Did you plasti dip the rear 4Runner badges? If so, how many passes did you do, and how much time in between.

I did. I think I did 5 coats and didn't let it dry too long in between, maybe 3 minutes but that depends on the weather. I waited just enough so it wouldn't cause runs. Probably could have put more coats on but I got impatient.

I stand on the rear tire to wash the roof between that and the running board I can reach the entire rear half of the roof (going from both sides). I can reach the top center of the windshield while standing on the front part of the factory running board. I looks like the nfab stepping area is limited to the entry point. Looks good though.

yep, used the rear tire as well. it's mainly the front which i had issues since i can't reach that area with the nfab steps. haven't had this size truck since someone totaled my 2001 patherfinder back in 2012 but it seemed easier to wash that truck than the 4runner. the 4runner is definitely a nicer truck though.

got my new rims, thanks to imturne1. they are trail rims that were painted satin black. i could have gone w/ the TRD's or the FN's but i liked the trail rims best but wanted a black wheel so when i saw imturne1 had a set for sale in black, i got them. had discount tire swap over the stock tires and TPMS as they only had 4k miles on them but eventually, i'll get some KO2's or the like once the time comes.

got the SR5 rims for sale now so if anyone is interested, let me know.

tried taking better pics today since it was cloudy but my old school iphone doesn't like the light/dark contrast. this is the best i could do. i removed the center caps and think they look better w/o them, what do u guys think?

With the wheels black and no center caps, they almost looked aftermarket. But I think it looks cleaner with the caps on. :thumb:

thanks for your opinion. i'll keep them off for a few days and then put them back on to see how i like them.

was doing some research on the stock dunlops and i see they have a 60k mile treadlife warranty? really? damn, that sucks. think i'll start taking corners like a race car so i can get them replaced within a year or two (not likely but i can dream).

Not much done to the 4Runner...runs great and am averaging mid 18mpg, mostly city driving. Got some seat covers to help protect them and they fit pretty nicely.

And the 4runner's older and more sophisticated cousin just joined the family as well!
