Cracked Dash

I also have a cracked dash and contacted Toyota. They sent me the reply below. My vehicle is a garage vehicle 85% of the time. I went to the dealer whn it was in warranty and was told I needed to use a vinyl conditioner which I purchased and it served no good as well as Armorall. The cracks got longer and more has appeared. I am sure this is a material problem.

Dear Don ,

Thank you for contacting us.

We apologize for the concerns you are having with the dashboard of your 2006 4 Runner.

We have not identified a defect in the manufacture of this component by issuing a recall under a Special Service Campaign.

However, please respond to this email with your 4 Runner's 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number so that we may document your vehicle product concerns and in the event that if we issue a bulletin which addresses your vehicle's dashboard, we will notify you by mail of our prescribed course of action.

Further, because we are not in a position to inspect your vehicle, we are not able to provide you with diagnostic support.

In order to properly assess your concerns, we recommend you contact the Customer Relations Manager at your local Toyota dealership, Toyota Dealer Locator Search - Find Toyota Dealer, to further evaluate your 4 Runner.

Toyota dealership technicians are specialized in the diagnosis and repair of Toyota vehicles. They are provided with extensive training and have access to state-of-the-art equipment to help in the accurate diagnosis of your vehicle. Also, if necessary, we provide additional support to assist Toyota dealership technicians in resolving unusual vehicle concerns.

Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters under file #1208301009. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us, Toyota Help.

Sincerely,
Thomas Morita

You should post this in the cracked dash sticky at the top of the forum. It's kind of a hot topic right now.

You won't get anywhere with Toyota on this one. There has never been TSB or Recal on issue therefore you're stuck with it. Welcome to the club.

P.S. I've carbon fiber dash kit where 1 piece of the kit covers the crack (around A/C vent on pass side).

Why are you repeating something that was already said? At leats use quotation marks if don't have your own words to say. Besides new member has a question and been very specific about. It takes less time to answer than redirect.
