Craigslist find

So my brother just turned 16 and he wants the same vehicle as me.....:help: So i just found this post on craigslist and wanted to know what some of you guys have to say. I think it's a very rare find, especially with that mileage! Here's the link 2002 Toyota 4runner

For that mileage and with the e-locker might as well check it out. It is a little up there in price though. At least for where I'm at.

Weren't e-lockers discontinued after 2000? Maybe he is referring to the multi mode center diff lock.

I probably have a warped view from living and shopping for 4Runners in the west, but in my experience if you want one in good condition with low miles like that you're going to pay unless you get really lucky. Assuming everything is good on the Runner the price is not really out of line and the seller will be able to get it. It's right at NADA retail so not priced above what your insurance will cover, you could get a loan on it, etc. If it were on the west coast they could probably get more- it's only higher miles that goes for anywhere near as low as KBB or Edmunds.

BTW, it does not have a locker- that was not an option after 2000. It's got a multi-mode transfer case, which gives you 2WD, AWD (can drive on pavement), or full 4WD. There are a couple of iffy things like that in the ad, so I'd check it out thoroughly. Might just be that the seller doesn't know what he's talking about, but my scam meter came up slightly when I read it. On the other hand, if it's legit it's a nice truck and will probably sell fairly quickly.

Yea I read the mistake about the e locker. I was hoping he just doesn't know what he means by it. Maybe a friend of his had an older one with the locker and he thinks the center diff lock button is the same thing.

IMO the price is fair. Thats about what I paid for my 01 limited with 150k 2 years ago in very good condition. Do a good inspection and run the vin number with the dealer that did "all of the maint" on it and verify what was actually done. Same thing with a carfax report, verify he was really the only owner. GL bro!

I thought the same... no e-lockers after 1999. Probably he is referring to the center diff lock. Ask for a picture of the left side dash right under the instrument cluster.

x2. Any Toyota in good condition with low miles is going to command a higher price. All factors in consideration, I'd say definitely check it out at the least. Could be a very rare opportunity.

Looks like a winner, but if it were my money, I would be looking to spend about half that on something with higher miles.

Well we contacted the owner and it was too late. He sold the rig today. I'm trying to get my brother in getting a 2nd gen Taco rather than a 3rd gen 4runner anyways. We just stumbled upon this find.
