Well it did and I don't know how I didn't crash into anything or anyone You are right I am very thankful..

The downside to not hitting anything is that now it is out of pocket, where as if you hit something you could put it through insurance.

Ouch...at least your ok, it could have been worse! As for my guess, assuming theres no body damage, just requires new wheel and suspension components...I'm going to say 800 if you do it the work yourself...I have no idea tho, just a guess...

And here I was wondering if an LBJ/OTRE 'upgrade' to the Tacoma LBJs/OTREs on my '00 4Runner was really needed.

Now I could care less if they're in fantastic shape - the $230 it cost me for parts is less than a repair bill.

Yes Be Thankful that you are alright.Getting trouble with your wheels in front is really more dangerous that on the back wheels.

There are aftermarket lower ball joints that will work and need to be pressed in but I know at least on the Cruiser and 4th Gen 4Runner Toyota does not sell these parts independently. Same with the upper ball joints.

You can buy OEM LBJs separately from Toyota for the 3rd gen.

Same with Dodge, had a 99' Durango and you have to buy the full arms because they were riveted in place.....or......drill them out and replace them with the Moog ball joints. I know there was a big class action lawsuit against Dodge for the 00+ model years because the wheels were falling off as people were driving with lower miles. I had mine for 150k and was constantly replacing upper and lower's, money pit!

I agree with the others... a crappy day is better than getting in a huge accident.

65MPH ball joint failures usually don't end so well. You're one lucky guy who, from the looks of things, knows how to avert a bad situation.
