Hi everyone!

I've been 'not quite lurking' on here (63 posts at the time of posting this thread). I have really enjoyed the wealth of information that I've found on this forum and hope that I can contribute to that knowledge going forward.

So after months and months of research, I placed an order for a 2016 4Runner TRD Pro on May 12th. And then we waited... And waited... And waited...for 55 days.

Lo and behold, we finally took possession of this beautiful 4Runner on July 5th:

BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2's in 275/70R17

Love the new rig!

What about the wheels did you have to negotiate?

We will be taking the 4Runner off road and the fact that the spare is a steel wheel didn't really bother us but the tire on the spare wheel being a street tire did. So we negotiated in a 5th matching wheel. All that remained was for me to obtain an All Terrain tire for the new spare wheel.

Well... I work for Michelin and there was no way that I was going to buy a competitor's (Nitto) tire just to match the other four. And because part of my benefits & compensation includes tires from the Michelin owned brands, one of which brand is BF Goodrich, I ordered 5 BFG KO2's in 275/70R17 and had my local Discount Tire swap them out. I sold the Nitto's for $400 to a friend of mine who just happens to be moving to Alaska and needed some A/T tires for his wife's Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Thus...

Now I have 5 matching wheels and tires that I'll keep in rotation. :biggrin2:
Also notice the tint matched front windows.

Welcome to the club. I'm in a very similar situation as you I'm Waiting on my Trail Premium to arrive the dealer says the end of August my fingers are crossed. I too love motorcycles but can't and won't bring my daughter along on those adventures so here goes the 4Runner. She and I are planning to run the Trans American Trail next summer to break in the 4Runner and do a little recon for taking the Tiger xc out on it at a later date. image.jpg

Gobi Stealth

Got the Gobi Stealth rack on Tuesday. I think it was 10 weeks from order placed to delivered.

Worked on it during the evenings to get it installed.
Tuesday - Rack assembled and installed
Wednesday - Ladder installed
Thursday - 3M clear bra strip and fairing installed

Pics tomorrow.

Probably not visible is the 3M Clear Bra product that I laid down before installing the air dam.

Rig looks outstanding! Why did you end up going with the gobi rack over say the eezi-awn k9?

Thanks!!!

That's an easy question to answer:
I like the basket style rack over the flat style. I chose Gobi over others because of their reputation, attention to detail, and quality.

With the help of some friends, we were finally able to mount our RTT.

Now just need to escape the heat and go camping in it for the first time...

The wife and I took the 4Runner out camping for one night this weekend. Went up to Round Mountain Campground:

Of course the 4Runner performed marvelously. We were really out there for a single overnight to figure out the CVT Roof Top Tent that we purchased recently. We wanted daylight and plenty of time to set the tent up. We planned the overnight knowing that rain and thunderstorms were imminent. While not perfect, we're very happy with our purchase. There's only a few tweaks that we need to make and all should be good.

Took the bikes and the wife to Tellico Plains, TN, for March Moto Madness. The picture above is on the TN side of the Cherohala Skyway.
