Cross Terrain tires unavailable so now what?

I liked the Michelin cross terrain tires because my 2001 4Runner tracked well with them and was quiet at freeway speeds, but the tires are no longer available in the size I need. Any suggestions? I live in So Cal so don't need all weather tires. Thanks.
Also, will a group 35 battery work? I bought one at Costco yesterday and the guy said it is the right one ofor the car but I believe it should be a group 24.

I have heard they might want to replace it with their new tire, something called "lattitude" or something like that. You may check other dealers to see it they have them in your size.

You could always try the new tire. On my 2001 4Runner I replaced my Cross Terrians with Michelin LTX. I have heard they can last a long time. They seem to handle about as good as the Cross Terrians. I would say, that they are a touch louder at 80 mph. I have been fairly pleased with the LTX's.

The Michelin LTX M/S has been around for years as a longlife workhorse pickup truck tire. It's an excellent tire. Mich came out with the CT to target the SUV crowd with a quieter softer riding tire. The Latitude Tour is the replacement version (there already was the Latitude X-Ice version) targeting the change from SUV to Crossovers. There is also the LTX A/T^2 (that recently replaced the original A/T) targeted more for offroad. All of these are quiet, longlife tires. I would give the Latitude a try, unless you get snow and don't want to drive 2 sets in which case I would get the A/T^2.

I miss my old CT's sometimes. They didn't really have an aggresive tread but were miles ahead of the stock tires when it came to on road handling and comfort. THey lasted well over 60k of hard driving too

Tire rack still has them, for those that are interested. I have had a set of LTX on both of my trucks and now (after about 70k miles) I need another set of tires. For the 4runner I want Michelins again, but its hard to fork out 800 bucks for a set of tires. X-terrains will be a little under 700 with shipping and mounting charges.

For the Tacoma, I think I'm going with Yokohamas this time and give them shot.

I have the latitude touring on my Sequoia and love them, I also have the LTX A/T2's on my runner and love them even more! If you are looking for a more aggressive look definitely go with the AT2s. I can post a pic of the tread pattern if you like.

I ran a set of X-terrains on my 99 SR5. Didn't get the mileage I had hoped for-only about 40K. LTXs will get me 70-80K and handle as well + go in snow. I would stick with a proven winner. The LTX-M/S's.

Planning to put Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos on my '99 4Runner. Have them on my '94 Land Cruiser and they're great.

Tirerack surveys show them highly rated across the board.

Just kidding, I think that's pretty cool. Thai has written much and got me convinced that having the flake can be important. The standards to pass the test indicate a real level of performance. With the recent change in Canada I'd expect to see more U.S. states requiring the snowflake. Heck, I don't think it's out of the question that insurance companies will start to offer discounts for running snowflake tires in the winter. That'll be the precursor to insurance mandating use:bash:



If I was a junkyard dog lawyer and somebody struck my client in the snow without snowflake tires I'd bring that up as I was making my pitch in court...




IMHO, we're going to see some other tires get the flake with little or no redesign, the Revo and Destination A/T come to mind.

Knowing Thai he probably suggested that michelin put the snowflake there to begin with

I basically came to the same conclusion. I wrote a thread about the mileage I got with the Cross Terrians and I decided to go with LTX for my next set of tires. I really don't notice that much of a difference between the tires.
