Curious What do you think about this 85' toyota???

I am in the market for a new wheeling rig currently have my 4th gen but I want an 85-87 to wheel much harder and build up. I found a mint 66 fj for 3200 bucks last week locally but the truck sold before I could get to it...I just found this 85 and the guy said he would take 3500 I'm going to look at it tonight at 6pm and offer him 3grand

3K would be a decent price, I'd make sure the motor was really rebuilt, and done right.

Im going to go over there tomorrow and offer him 3k cash hopefully he has some receipts to prove the rebuild but he says the motor is really torque. it looks like a fairly clean start. I did find an ifs fuel injected 87 4runner that was fairly clean as well for 2900 clean title

Seems like a crazy high price for a 30 year old vehicle with almost 300 grand on the clock.

I would have a hard time paying that kind of money for a 20 year old Toyota, much less a 30 year old one.

But I guess if it's what you want, it's what you want. :shrug:

If everything was done right then it's definitely worth $3500. Solid axle yotas sell pretty quick around here regardless of price or mileage.

I thought that after 85 they came with the 22re and ifs? May be different since it's a pickup? Even if it did come stock with the sfa, I'd look into the motor because every 86 I've seen was fuel injected. 3000 doesn't sound bad if the truck is set up right.

I agree. I sold my '85 extra-cab SR5 4wd, sfa, fuel injected 22rei, 5spd manual with auto locking hubs for $7,000 in '91. It even had the original bed, no rust and less than 40k miles on it. Only non-oem addition was a tube rear bumper I put on it.
