OP, I'd go laser cut on those if I were you - no need to waterjet them, and CNC is overkill if it doesn't involve recesses, IMO.

if you were going to order 4 of the brackets and 8 of the spacers. what would you expect to pay?

it seems I have to order about $1500 of product to make it reasonably priced. then would have to go on a cheer-leading campaign to make my money back. not at all what I wanted to do.

I don't really want to get into the parts business @ all, it's not what I want to do.

I will continue to shake the tree's locally maybe something will turn up.

Yeah, that's kinda the reality - to get good pricing you have to commit to volume (and it sucks if you make revisions before you release the product to the public - ask me how I know ) - or you pay the setup fee spread across a few parts, which artificially inflates the per-part cost.

You might want to just keep your design open-source; let folks figure out there own way to make it? That's a meaningful contribution without going broke to do it.

I did an excel document and ran the $ numbers, exactly they have a fixed setup cost/per machine process then materials are pretty much a unit price + maybe a 15% profit. it makes perfect sense, just I guess I was hoping it was all done by robots.

I come from a software background and we have to have QA sign off before we go live. nothing like some knuckle head making a last minute change and all hell breaks lose.

I have also been that knuckle head. somebody has to teach others a lesson.

I may be able to pull some strings at work and get you the parts for little to nothing (at least shipping).

I can still ask our estimator to quote it so you can know how much we would charge if you wanted to order X amount of parts. But like I said, I may be able to get you the 4 brackets and the 8 spacers for really cheap to get you started. The only hangup that I could see is you are in Minnesota and we're in Wisconsin. So if you did want lets say 50 of these brackets made up, shipping could be an issue or least another expense.

the spacer is just a round 4mm thick by 32 mm OD, 13 mm ID flat washer thingy.

if you can hit $40 for each bracket and $10 for each spacer then I would be more than happy to pay shipping. your only a 5 hour drive from me.

edit: these are cleaned up versions in DXF format. I figured out how to export from the sketch in autodesk

finally got 2 sets of brackets back

cost me $40 per piece so 160 actual total was $165.33 so not bad but still I'm sure larger quantity's would be pretty cheap.

I did a quick test fit and the mods I made to the dxf file were perfect and no additional grinding will be needed.... now I need to test fit with rotors and calipers just to make certain.

This was a pain but a lot easier than hand grinding for sure.

Not a bad price at all considering what you got. I've paid as much for fab brackets
for other things. Look real good.
