Custom Passenger Seat Suggestions Please

Hello Everybody

Does anybody know of an excellent custom seat maker? My wife has a few herniated discs and although she loves road tripping, is really beset by this condition. The 4Runner driver seat is great, but Toyota cheaps out on the passenger seat and doesn't offer the same sort of support. I tried to already customize the factory seat with an lumbar support, but still isn't doing the trick.

So now I'm looking to just get a whole new seat for her. I know this will be expensive. Any recommendations would be really great. Please help.

It would be great if the front passenger seat was just as adjustable as the drivers. There's gotta be several good auto upholstery shops in LA. Have you talked with any of them yet?

Just be aware the passenger seat has weight classification sensors built into it as well as airbags. If you remove the factory seat frame it will be nearly impossible to turn off your SRS light. If your able to retain the seat frame (where the weight sensors reside) you could add a resistor in place of the airbag to keep your light off. However just realize there would no longer be an airbag here for your wife which would drastically increase her risk of injury / etc in the event of a rollover on her side or side impact.

I suffered for years with cars seats, back issues with lumbar l4/l5. After sitting in my 2017 SR5 premium passenger's seat, I can understand the likely issues your wife is experiencing.

Before spending on a entirely new car seat, give one more try at the Relax The Back Store - many locations in LA.

If the black Wedge version shown below does not work, try the grey one with a custom insert wedge you make yourself.

Good news is that the space between the horizontal seat and the floor is very good. It is the slant downward toward the back of the horizontal portion of the seat that is likely causing the issues and also the somewhat less firm seat on passengers side.
