Dad Just Bought A Tesla Roadster Sport!

Thought some might be interested in a couple pics of my Dad's new ride! It's a freaking rocket, it's ridiculous to drive, I'm jealous!

Well actually it was 95% going green, he doesn't care too much about it being incredibly fast and awesome but it's really the only electric car that'll go more than 50 miles on a charge.

He bought a 1991 Rolls Royce Silver Spur 20 years ago which has been his daily driver since then, I think he was ready to get away from a 6000lb boat that gets 10 MPG.

Tell him running on batteries isnt green as they use many environmentally harmful materials, also tell him he has a sweet car there too.

Haha, ya, it kind of sucks though because it's relatively worthless because of the super high mileage for a Rolls, he's tried to sell it before and it's MINT and he was really disappointed with the kind of offers he was getting. Anyways, on my way yo Arizona for you!

Isn't Tesla also pairing with Toyota to built an electric RAV4? I doubt it will be as fast or as fun to drive though.

I haven't heard about the RAV4 but the Tesla guy mentioned a soon-to-come electric SMART Car powered by Tesla batteries and motor!

As far as relatively worthless, i think like 30k-40k, SAD

I drove one of those in October....SO AWESOME! The most comfortable sports car I've ever driven.

And it's an absolute rocket!

Yup, I don't remember the ETA though, I think it's end of 2012 possibly. Toyota invested $50M in Tesla and they're going to be manufacturing at the old NUMMI site.

Despite living in CA, it would've been funny Toyota decided to stick it to CA for trying to trash them when NUMMI closed and moved the Tesla manufacturing site out of CA. It wasn't Toyota's fault that it was shut down. GM backed out of the joint venture for NUMMI, which forced Toyota's hand.

Well you'll be glad to here that he's already put his deposit down on the sedan model and should hopefully get it in 2012

Nice! Wondering what it sounds like. My friend and I were having this discussion once about how an electric supercar would be pretty sweet, but that one of the best parts about them is the sound that they make.
