Dash Protectant

Live in Florida and occasionally see a type of white substance appear on the dash of my 04 SE. Almost looks like a powder. I am thinking I should put something on it to held protect it from the sun.

What would be best cleaner/protectant to use that I can get in a local store?

I have heard do not use armour all as it contained alcohol.

Suggestions?

Armour all has been around a long time and does work.

I still use it and have NEVER had a problem with it.

But to each his own.

I have used Meguiar's Clean Shine and Protect in the past, but they no longer make it. I've bought some Meguiar's NXT for when it runs out.

The best stuff you can buy in a store... or anywhere for that matter, is 303 Aerospace Protectant. UV Protection rated at SPF 40.

You can get it at most any boating store. Other than that, I would recommend the Meguiar's suggestion.

I just got a bunch of that for around the house and on my cladding. You like it for the interior trim, too, eh? Hadn't thought of using it there.

Yup, 303 is a very good product, I found it locally at an enthusiast car accesory shop. You might also want to look into Lexol Vinylex, it's similar to the 303 but is a bit more glossy, though the smell isn't very nice.

Is there a dash protectant that doesn't leave a glossy film behind? Glossy looks nice, but attracts dust like crazy.

Mothers makes a non-oily protectorant that does the job of protecting your dash.

I don't find 303 to be glossy at all. It's more of a satin mat finish. After it dries, it's not greasy or oily at all.

I also use Zaino Z10 Leather In A Bottle, which also has SPF40 protection. It also leaves a nice mat finish that is neither oily or greasy. The other benefit of the Z10 is that it smells like leather - awesome!

I was gonna buy some 303 but it was like $15 for a 16oz bottle. I had already spent enough money on my PC, wax, and other detail products so I just bought some Meguiars NXT. I'm gonna use it today so I'll let you know how it goes.

NXT works great! At first it looks like it is going to real shiney and then it tones down. You just have to wipe it real good. It has great UV protection!

I came here to ask the same exact thing.
Yeah, I would not suggest using Armour All. My sister used it in her Mustang.. and that dash is black. And well.. she used the wipes and the creases or whatever in the dash were like.. discolored. And she had gray spots.
Me and my dad were talking about this earlier... what to use cause she screwed her interior up.

LoL.. don't laugh.. My mom always names our animals really un-animal friendly names. But his name is Harvey. LoL. I hate it when people ask what our puppies' names our. But.. our other weenie dog.. her name is Needle Nose That's my mom for ya lol

How often so you apply protectant to your dash? I tried Meguiar's NXT for the first time two weeks ago. Just wondering when I should apply it again.

Same goes for tire dressing, how often do you slap that on?

303 Aerospace protectant. Great stuff.
It leaves everything looking like new, not like it's covered with something to make it look like new.

I use it on the entire dash and all interior plastics. Outside I do the running boards with it
