Daystar comfort ride lift

How come very few run this kit ? It looks real good on JA's truck and seems to be a little more involved but is more than just spacers. But looks like a nice set up , they said it retains stock shock travel and prevents over extending the shocks , Xreas , ect...

What makes this ride and be so different than the Cornfed ? is it better or worse ? Just personal preference , I dont know anything about suspensions and preloads , and spacers that go on top and inside the coil at the same time .

I choose the Daystar Kit as I liked the size combination of 2.5 front and 1.5 rear. Also very important to me was the size combination of the front kit which had a smaller preload spacer and larger top out spacer combination, especially as compared to the Revtek kit. Additionally the CF kit does not allow one to retain the inside the coil bumpstops, the Daystar kit does.

Cornfed is a great kit as well. It is great to patronize a small business owner interested in creating products for the 4th gens and also you can have the kit customized to your liking, for example if I went with this kit I may have done a 2.5" front and 2.0" rear so as to maintain a little more rake then the daystar which levels a little more.

I don't think you can go wrong with either the Daystar or Cornfed kits.

Falls - Initially when the Daystar lift came out (late 2003 early 2004) there were some quality issues with the parts being used. I think many people switched to the Cornfed based on some early feedback about both kits that overall, the quality and customer service with the Cornfed kit was better.

I too like the look of the Daystar, but I don't have XREAS, so I'm not sure how much the handling would change on a non-Xreas setup with Daystar.

I like the looks but really just wanted to get rid of some of the rake. Not that it will be real noticeable at all , but I've already had another 4R guy come up to me at the gas station and ask it I was running bigger tires than he had. Ok so thats a 1 in a million thing.

I guess really doing something to get noticed is kind of not my thing. Otherwise I'd be driving a yellow Hummer.....lol

I've always liked the "just not quite stock , something looks slightly different look".

The pics I took to simulate the 2/1 look made me think a little.....lol

I also want to be able to go on long trip and where ever and just not worry about it .

JA..Are you going to try to go bigger with tires ?

Larger tires, No. Just spent almost $1K on the 32's. With 33's thats when you begin to notice power loss, mileage loss, and handling differences. Then you need to regear, etc. Not my thing as I like to take long trips as well. The 32's fit perfect with the Daystar lift, give a great ride and I wouldnt want anything larger for my purposes.

I called Daystar today just to get a better understanding of the the comfort ride system with the preload stuff. I'm just going to put my CF spacer in , but just wanted to educate myself.

They were rude and said there was NO kit available for that truck. I just wanted to understand how thee stuff works ( although I didn't tell them that )

JA , why does it come with shock boots for inside the coil ? Did you put those in ??

So I called back after I had the number of JA's kit to give them , I get the same asshole . So I told him I wanted to put this kit on and what separates them from the rest , he basically say nothing really , just just might not feel as many bumps with the poly spacers.

Tells me how its nearly impossible to install , blah , blah ....... Nice sales pitch and promotion for the company , he also does tech support ... name is Jim.

So much for learning...........lol

That's disappointing to hear about that call with Daystar. They do indeed have a good product though. It's kind of like talking to the Toyota dealer and the Toyota service department, it boggles the mind what incorrect info they can give out, but the product is great, just need to do your own independent research.

I called Daystar once myself regarding the size of the rear lift included with the 115 kit as the kit is marketed as being a 2.5" lift with no mention as to the "leveling" effect, ie. the rear gives less lift than the front. The person says that the spacers included with the rear are the same as those included in the rear only kit #KT09118BK. Those are marketed as a 2.0" lift. So I purchased the 115 kit knowing that others who installed the kit gained only 1.5" and indeed I gained only 1.6" of rear lift not 2.0". So once again it is an example of a manufacturer giving incorrect info out.

Is there anyone else on this forum with the DS kit? Your probably much better off asking any questions you have right here.

As far as the Cornfed kit is concerned, and someone correct me if i am wrong, I believe that all CF kits greater 1.0" include preload spacers. In fact the preload spacer is not aluminum but rather made of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene product. The rear spacer of the CF kit is also polyethylene and does not allow the rear inside the coil bumpstop to be utilized.

The big question is what is the size of the inside vs. outside the coil pack spacer and how does that compare to the Daystar kit. Remember a larger preload spacer will increase ride harshness but too large of a top out spacer can potentially cause issues with the range of motion being outside the factory specs.

Could it be the Daystar lit us better for off/on road issues and the CF kit would be better for on road & light off road use , kind of more for shoe & style ??? Just guessing , please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've also noticed someone on put a Daystar lit on the front , not sure if it was called a level kit or how Daystar described it , but their truck ended up looking nose high. I think they have since switched to a different kit .
