Those were a few...I have more. RAS(razor aquisition syndrome) kicked in.LOL If you want a old school smooth shave try one. But beware...it takes some practice!!!

I have been using these for about 3 years. Better/closer shave and for MUCH less expensive than buying modern razors. I can buy enough blades to last a year for under $20.00.

Sweet Black Beauty you have there!! I have been using my '58 Superspeed Red Tip and it's great. I have been using a DE for about the same amount of time. A pack of 100 Astra's cost me less than $10. I get 6-9 shaves out of a $.10 blade!! I really want to try the "Feathers". Supposed to be the sharpest blade out there!

What other razors do you have, brush, soap, AS???

I pulled out a Gillette that my Father gave me, back in 1972 I think. junk blades around here. waiting for some Feather or such to try.

I get mine online. Amazon is a great place to buy for cheap. There are other online store that have botique products.

I use sharks. Feathers are my 2nd choice.

This is my first "vintage" razor. I saw it at an antique store for 8 bucks and it was near-mint. I also have two different Mekur razors, but they're the modern ones. I think the old ones have more character to them, so I'm on the lookout for more.

When I first started, I bought a couple of different blades from about a dozen manufacturers. I now use only Feather. To me, they gave the closest shave.

I like the Proraso soaps from Italy. Lately I've been using a soap from Barrister & Mann that is pine scented. Like the woodsy stuff.

Wow that's cheap for a Black Beauty! Ha ha...I have a couple of modern Merkurs. A Progress and 25c. They are nice shavers. Your right nothing beats an old fashioned brass razor. Those modern ones are usually made of zamak and once the chrome is damaged of doesn't take long for the razor to deteriorate. Do you like the razors aggressive?

Love Proraso!! My wife doesnt care for the menthol smell from the "green" line of products but not me. I enjoy cheap stuff like Arko and more costly Taylor of a Old Bond Street. I hear Barrister is a fine product. I should give them a try! I also love the smell of sandlewood. True "old man barbershop" smell!

Funny...my "mug" is also from the same era. It's a buffalo china cup from the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries.

The Barrister & Mann stuff was super cheap and I was skeptical at first, but I think it may be my new "go-to." Killer lather. I also like the bay rum scents. Ogalalla (sp?) makes a good one.
