I'm willing to bet quality control and parts quality were both better in 2018. My gf has a 2022 RAV4 that doesn't drive straight and Toyota is so lost on fixing it that they decided to warranty 4 tires .35K in 2018 is worth $43k in today dollars due to inflation. Plus you get fancy features like factory LED lights, much nicer center infotainment, Toyota safety sense, etc. A much better bargain compared to one in 2018 if you look at it that way.
