Dealership oil change what oil?

Before I start I'm 76 years old, handicapped, and am beyond changing my own oil.
Having got that out of the way here's my question:

I have three Toyota dealerships within 30 miles of me. One is the dealer I bought my T4R from, all have good reputations.
All three use Pennzoil Platinum (not Ultra) 0w20 for oil changes. Now I know it's bulk oil which enhances the dealerships bottom line. It's always about profit, isn't it?
My question is why does Toyota allow this if Toyota wants you to use their own GTMO or Mobil 1 in the customers brand new Toyota?

CutthroatSlam, that is a less than respectful reply. And if you and me were face to face, I would not be as polite. I'm sure you'll have a stellar reply to me.

I wish there was a better answer for you given your situation. I'm 54 and wonder how long I'll be able to do my own maintenance. Every Toyota I've bought I've never taken advantage of the free oil changes because I just do not trust them. The only thing I can tell you is to either give them the oil and filter you demand they use and see if they'll do it, find a independant you trust to do what you want, or find someone you trust to do it at your home. I help frieinds and family in the same situation by doing theirs just because I like doing it, but I know that is not an option for everyone. On the positive side, the 4r engines are good at running on whatever is thrown in the hole in some respects. I would trust a dealership more than a quicklube place in a heartbeat; even tho it might cost a little more. I'd be confident Pennzoil Platinum would be more than capable of handling your needs at 5000 miles or 1 year OIC intervals.

1.). Toyota dealerships are private companies that are not part of Toyota, Inc.
2.) Toyota wants you use to use “their” oil because of profits.
3.) Toyota manual states any SAE 0w-20, API SN, ILSAC GF-5 is acceptable and again only recommends Toyota oil so that they get the $$ instead of another Oil manufacturer.

Nothing more to it. Keep your receipts, make sure dealership has record of any services you do with them and find something else to worry about .

I am in the same boat. I cannot change my own oil, but I want things done right and prefer not to take to the dealer.

You can either call a mobile mechanic to come to your home to perform the oil change or the Jiffy Lube near me will use my oil and filter if I ask. Offer extra tip, ask service provider to take their time and take care, not over tightening screws on skid plate or pan bolt.

Search this forum or youtube for excellent step by step instructions so that you know what to look out for while observing the oil change.

Like I said I'm 76 years old so this well could be my last vehicle since I kept my last one for 15 years.
I would never have thought in a million years that I would be spending upwards of 50 grand on a vehicle. Thats why I'm kind of anal as far as upkeep goes. In fact I actually read the owners manuals.
I'll probably stick with purchasing dealer since they treated me extremely well, and so far am pleased with their service.
I guess in the end it's just a crap shoot.

I would stick with purchasing dealer too. Right choice IMO. Enjoy retirement - that is job #1 now. Good luck!

I buy Mobil 1 0W20 from Walmart, about $28 for a 5 qt jug and take my own oil to the dealer, or independent shop that I also use. I also use Toyota OEM filters and a crush washer.

FWIW, my closest Toyota dealer won't use customer supplied oil. They are a bunch of money grubbing d-bags, charging over $12 a quart for full synthetic. And they wonder why people hate the dealerships.
