Deer Strike - 50 mph at 4:45 am

I hit a deer on a highway in NJ at 4:45 AM on my way to work. If I had driven my wife's sedan like I normally do, I would have had a face full of venison. Thank goodness for these trucks being so strong. I've always felt safe in it, but now even more-so. I have to admit it scared me pretty good.

Here is the damage:

Cracked bumper
Cracked fog light bezel
Cracked fog light bulb

The deer did not fare so well. Later in the day I saw it laying tits-up about 50 feet from the impact site. Stupid animal.

You got off easy on that one. I was involved in a 4 vehicle accident last week and didn't fare so well.

Well at least it was at the edge of the bumper and not dead center, deer could have rolled up on the hood and windshield damaging those too.

Damit! They just renegotiated their contract...what...2 years ago? This better not affect my hunting trip this fall.

I have hit a deer going around 30-40MPH in my parents QX56 a long time ago. It is not a good experience & depending on speed, basically does permanent damage to the vehicle even with so-called insurance 'repairs'.
