Demello front bumper install problem

Update: Pictures at the end of this thread helped. Additionally, I did contact Demello but I have not received a response, however I believe that is due to it being a weekend.

Also, including instructions should be by default. Not everyone is an expert.

Check with Demello, they are usually pretty good about that kind of stuff. You actually want about .5"~1.0" gap between the top of the bumper to the body panels as it will protect them during flexing. It looks like when you start bolting it to the frame it will even up a bit more and have a more uniform gap, as for the opening that you're worried about; it's a not a big deal. Many bumpers have that because it gives clearance for winches, mine has a bit of one and I haven't had an issue with rocks hurting the radiator.

Part of the reason it's sticking out so much is because most of these bumpers are designed for hoops, take the hoops off and it usually leaves a good shelf. Though in your picture it is not lining up with the fender wells like I would think it should. I'm not sure if this is because Demello expected many of their customers to trim their fenders or what.

I'd shoot them an email with pictures and go from there.

I understand the needed gap for body flex as I read about that when doing my research and I am completely fine with it. It's the section that is not lining up with the fender that is bothering me the most.

It's not supposed to go all the way back to the front back edge of the fender. it also looks like you might have a 06-09 bumper which is wider and has the grill cut out. But even the 03-05 bumper doesn't go all the way back

Well, I hope it's because I have the wrong bumper! Although that means they shipped the incorrect one to me when I made the order.

It looks like you have to choose the flat top. You should show pics with it tightened up and we can see how large the gap is.

If you have absolutely no clue what you are doing and don't have the problem solving skills to make this happen, why are you bad mouthing the manufacture? If you had gone straight to demello he would have sorted you out.

Not trying to pollute your thread or give you a hard time. But being a small business owner myself, I would much rather my customer come to me with an issue before going off on the internet. Get ahold of jason, he will sort you out. Looks like the mount was bent during shipping.

You need to knock out those studs out and use the hardware that came with the bumper.
That looks like a 04-05 bumper bc of the turn signals.

When I got my Demello bumper it didn't come with those extra brackets which pick up the side-holes on the frame rails.

It also only had 2 vertical mounting slots on the mounting tabs. Not 3, like one would expect in order to bolt to the 3 vertical studs on the frame ends.

I ended up removing the middle stud on my frame rail ends, and just using the upper and lower stud to mount my bumper.

Compared to the pics above it looks like mine is missing some pieces??

Maybe you have an earlier version. I don't think you could use the bracket the way the metal is bent at the mount points

That's more or less what I've been thinking. I'd be curious to see how many other/different mounting variations there might be out there as their product has evolved.

The newer interface certainly looks beefier. I haven't done any really hardcore winching from my bumper, but I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't a bit concerned that a full 8000 pound pull might deform the bumper a bit.
