Is there an adjustment on the switch that closes allowing the engine to crank when the clutch is depressed? I have a '96 runner and really have to stand on the clutch to get the engine to crank.

Look under the dash at the clutch pedal arm, and you should find the switch. It will have two wires attached. It should be screwed into a bracket with a locknut to hold it in place. Simply adjust it so more of the switch barrel sticks up out of the bracket and tighten the locknut.
If my memory is faulty, you should still be able to tape a shim to the pad on the pedal arm that contacts the switch plunger. That'll have the same effect.
