Did a little touch up but need opinions

Hey guys,

So I had a beat up black brush guard that I decided to experiment and paint silver. I think it came out well but I want some opinions. I also need ideas on what to do with the black plastic molding on the very front of the bumper. Someone hit it and broke it all, and it looks bad. Any ideas?

Oh and the brush guard is only staying until I get a real Engineering job and buy a nice new front bumper.

Looks great, much improved from black imho! I think that lower valence piece is a part of the entire bumper and can't be replaced separately. It's a small pic, but I didn't even notice it at first look.

Yeah I agree, though I did it the cheap shaker can way and it still needs more clear coat. I'm thinking about cutting out the lower valence piece and somehow mounting in some mesh or something? Thoughts?

I would try to fix it. From the view you gave us it looks like it split into two correct? If so reinforce it from the inside (and outside) with some bondo/fiberglass then sand it down from the out side so it it "even" then pain over it. (Im not sure if that would work entirely)

It's pretty tough to get stuff to stick to that plastic and it'll likely lose its bond if/when it flexes.

i know what im doing this summer! i want to paint my brush guard and i want to paint my flairs the same color as my body. but i don't like the color of my body. its like a cream with some white in it.
What colors would u recommend? I LOVE YOUR SILVER ON SILVER

Nice looking rig...I think your paint job looks great. As far as your broken bumper...go with what you were thinking, cut it out and put in a grille mesh.

IMO, when the colors match it takes away the aftermarket add-on appearance. Great Job!

Agreed I was thinking about putting some reinforcement behind and screwing it together but I like my mesh grill idea better. Maybe painting that black too.

That really is an interesting color. Yeah this was an experiment cause I got really tired of the flaking black paint it looked ugly on my 4R. I figured for 40 bucks in paint primer sanding supplies and clear coat it was a worthy experiment.

To match your truck I have no ideas what color you would use haha sorry I'm not a "paint" guy. Just love to tinker.


P.S. Everyone I'm a 23 year old recently graduated Engineer looking for a full time position!

looks good! just so you know that whole lower valance can be replaced and is quite easy to take off. here is a link.

I have seen them cheaper then this too. just look around, good luck!
