Did Discount Tire actually offer me a deal?

So I go in for a tire rotation and balance and they say they won't work on my spidertrax spacers anymore due to safety issues. The guys are actually really nice and told me he would get me a set of 4 18" Raceline Raptor rims for $600 installed... :jump: He said that he wouldn't be making much money which I totally believe, and on my end that's pretty much only $450 since I could probably get around $150 for my spidertrax. I feel like these guys are really trying to keep my business. How does it sound?

I got my 4 for right about 500 installed since I had my buddy who is a lesch swab manager buy them for me... Usually those rims are about 170ish$ So IMO I would say you are getting somewhat of a deal saving about 100 bucks or so off retail

from what he is saying you're paying $25 a wheel more than his hookup price. Sounds like a deal to me. They are going for $599 a set on ebay, so you save on shipping and install.

Do you really want to buy new wheels? Many tire shops are now not willing to work on vehicles with spacers mainly due to they are illegal for on road use.
I had Les Schwab tell me they won't touch my 4Runner with spacers period! (this is the same shop that also won't touch my FJ coils)
So I went to big O and spend my $1400. I got better service and they have done a few things for free that they could of easly charged me for.
If you want wheels then maybe this is a good deal, I would shop around.
But if you want to save your money and or spend it on other mods then try a different shop. Just my 2 cents.:thanks:

Hub adapter style spacers (like Spidertrax) are not illegal for road use in Utah, check the inspection manual. If you need a shop to work with yours, hit Discount Tire on 5600 W, I rotated and balanced there several times while I had mine on and they never even mentioned it.

OP, they may be giving you a deal, but they're still forcing you to buy rims you don't need. I'd tell them you appreciate the offer but you're going to take your business to a shop that won't nanny you about your truck.

Not trying to get in a pissing match with anybody. And everyone should check their local and state law.
But wheel spacers are illegal in Utah. Refer to UC-41-6A-1630 (line b)

Blue4run and I are pm'ing over this, but http://publicsafety.utah.gov/safetyinspections/docs/2011-2012 SI PLT Manual.pdf is my source. It indicates there's a distinction between wheel spacers and hub adapters - the former are illegal in Utah, the latter are not (tho good luck finding an inspection joint that's consistent on the difference).

No pissing match here, it's always good to share information.
