Did my dealership rip me off?

Hey Guys:

Quick question for you guy. I had a tire blow out and my TPMS sensor busted so I ordered a used one online. I did not have time to go to my dealer so I had it put on the local shop. They could not program it so I took to my dealer today to get it programmed (I even gave them the serial number). I also had a bunch of other work done at the dealership as well. They charged $50 plus tax to program. I would have thought this would have been $20 max. I am super pissed. Its not that I am cheap but how much work could have this been. Maybe 2 minute max. Did they rip me off and should I email/call them with my annoyance or just let it go and have a drink. Right now I am opting for the drink. Let me know what you think.

Last I checked hourly rates for service were $100 an hour, so $50 means that they charged you for 1/2 hour of labor which can be a minimum amount of labor that the dealer will charge unless otherwise specified.

I would be okay if that's all they did. But I had oil change done, windshield wipers replaced, tire rotation, drive shaft lubed. Total bill was $187 so I am pretty sure they spent way more than 30 minutes on my runner.

They also said the front CV boots were cracked. $1000 to replace. Holy crap

thats a fair price for the tpms, they bill by the job, the tpms is separate from the oil change and other things, most shops and dealers have a min charge like johnsd90 said. things like oil changes fall into a separate category all together, they just bill for the job on those items, its a set rate, wont matter if its a tundra or a 4runner or a rav4, the oil change is a set and then they charge for X amount of oil used(they measure oild by weight, not qts).

as far as the CVs go, yeah they will not re-bot them. they dont know how long they have been like that and so they can not guarantee the work(they could have been cracked and had months or more of dirt and road spray up in them and even if they put new boots on and new grease in them they wont last...), so they will just pull the old ones out and sell you new ones at toyota stealer prices...
