Diff drop - 1" standard...?

I understand that, when adding a suspension lift in the front of 3" or more, a diff drop kit is necessary. I have only seen the option for a 1" diff drop. Is there any risk/problem with increasing the diff drop more than 1"? I could make some parts to do it. Could there be a benefit in adding 1/4" or more to the diff drop?

Your only option is a 1" drop. You're also not going to want to do anything more than 3" in the front due to several reasons. Some people run the drop and others don't.

You're going to get a lot of argument as to whether the diff drop is "necessary" or not. Both arguments have some logic. I ran them and ended up tearing my CV boots anyway. Also a 1" diff drop kit doesn't really lower the spot where the CV axles mount up by 1", more like a half inch.

Anyhoo, I think they only come in one flavor: 1" drop. I suppose you could wedge some washers in there, but I really don't think it would make any difference, and much more than that you would have to start thinking about the front driveshaft, which was not designed to bend at all.

I can fab up parts to increase the diff drop, if it is a good thing to do. I agree, I am not going higher than 3" in the front.

If the front driveshaft was not meant to be moved down at all, maybe I shouldn't experiment with this idea.

1 inch is the most you can drop it. There is a crossmember underneath the diff and they will contact with any more than a 1 inch drop

Thanks for bringing logic, Dylan. Much more helpful than just stating it shouldn't be done.
ShooterMcGavin I saved my front skids for you, they're already "modified" for the diff drop. Not sure where my sprace went though... So you'll need those still.

Thanks! I totally appreciate it. Sprace?
