diff lock recommendation

IMO tires are not cheap. The way i see it. The money saved not having to buy tires often will easily pay for a selectable.

LOL..... As good as ARB stuff is, it is quite expensive. My thinking as far as the LOKKA v's ARB locked diffs goes, I'm not really keen on fitting a compressor to run them. Plus the LOKKA items cost half as much. They may not be as good but from the reading, videos and reviews I've done and seen, they seem like the best option for me.

Meh, ARB, LOKKA.... whatever gives me the best bang for buck.

I'm just busting your chops. Lunchbox lockers are common and lots of guys run them on here since they are such an inexpensive option to lock. IMO they are all pretty much the same from my research. Aussie locker/Spartan/Lock rite/LOKKA etc.. they all do the same thing and seem to be made the same way.

If that's your budget then I say pull the trigger and do it, having wheeled both completely open and now with lockers. I can say that without a doubt having the ability to lock the rear VASTLY improves my off-road capability.

The lunchbox lockers just have different on road characteristics that I hear take a little getting used to but offroad are just as effective as any other locker, after all locked is locked.

You should find out if you have a 2 pinion or 4 pinion diff. The 4 pinion Spartan locker is supposed to be really strong, comparable to the Detroit and Yukon.

Yukon has a really good warranty, they will cover up to $2,000 worth of collateral damage caused by one of their units grenading.

I know that there are some exceptions to this, but general rule of thumb is 4cly is 2 pinion and v6/turbo is 4 pinion. Your door jamb gear code will also tell you.

Our 4runner has a standard Toyota issue LSD in the back that seems to be holding up ok. It's not as tight as the Quaife that's in my Peugeot, but what can you expect from a factory spec LSD. I'll probably put one in the front before I change the back.

No sweat about the chop busting.... all in good fun. Us Aussies have a pretty sense of humour, me included.
