Diode Dynamics security breach

Funny story.

I’ll let the email speak for itself, I’m sure everyone already got the message. I recently had unauthorized charges on my Capital One card. It was an $85.00 charge to “WALMART.COM AA 800-966-6546 AR 72716 USA”. I’ve never given this card to Walmart for any services.

One of the things that allowed me to more strongly associate this fraudulent activity with a particular transaction (and merchant, Diode Dynamics) is having lots of credit cards, and using a different one each time I buy something online. This allows months, if not years, between purchases.

I haven’t made any purchases with this particular card, except Diode Dynamics, since being issued a new one at my old card’s expiration.

Has anyone else had such an experience after the breach? I placed my order 07/16/21, the fraudulent charge was made 11/08/21, and I received the email about the breach 11/17/21.

Interesting. I have bought from them a few times and did not receive the email. I wonder if it was a small subset of customer info that was compromised and they were able to trace to the emails associated.

Will be curious how things play out.
