does it run any better with the cold air intake Or is it just louder.
I seen a video with dyno results from several import cars where they used brand new OEM paper air filters in stock air box, then K&N style drop in, & then full cold air intakes. All aftermarket made the same or less power than the stock air box. They said a full cold air intake really only helps if you have many other mods (exhaust, head work, etc.)
If memory serves correctly it was on a honda & nissan (but Id assume the results would stay concistant no mater what make?)
They do look cleaner than the huge factory air box! Im trying to decide if I want to get one or not.... Just that in most of the cars I had them in, they made it loud as hell. & now days I dont want loud cars. Just loud + clear stereo

certainly you are right, it just more louder plus if you go with a hi flow muffler style (magnaflow, flowmaster etc)
In my case, install the cold air intake just for remove the older and cracked oem intake, with issue with they clamps in the intake duct doesnt match very well
and after the instalation, the vafm "n the air"---->, so I think in a DIY heatshield almost like the K&N (in my ex Hilux 2RZ-FE)
but now it´s sound much better

Nice! But what keeps hot air from getting sucked through the gap between the divider and the hood?
hohoho, it is clear that I need to install the rubber (which I have), taking the size fits perfect meeting between the hood and the shield
Today I went to work on the 4runner and it works perfect, I miss the hesitation of the filter with the fender, (my DD)
I hope use a K&N filter later, but I look for the right size
