Do I need new rotors?

Where’s a good source for OEM parts?

He bought powerstop fro Rockauto. He has 50k on this set, and I'd water he will go to 70k or better with his pads when I checked them two weeks ago when I helped him with installing a lift. His rotors look brand new. There isn't much that I buy that is fully OEM. A lot of aftermarket parts are just as good or better. You just need to shop around and read reviews.

Talk to a decent mechanic. Opinions on this board area ll over the place. (including this one)

Hell no you don't need new rotors, UNLESS after they are turned, they no longer meet the minimum thickness spec that Toyota provides.

Turning rotors is an industry standard practice when replacing the pads. It's done tens of thousands of times a day across the country.

If it was unsafe the industry would recommend against it as a whole.

You don't even need to turn the rotors after you replace the pads if you don't want to. However this practice is not recommended as a whole. You won't find too many shops that will do this, because well it's just not as good a practice. I know lots of DIY people that do this myself included for my personal vehicle because I understand the risks. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone else, wife, loved ones, etc. But that's just me.

This. They don't even have to remove them from the hubs to turn them now. First time around turn them, next time replace them. Unless you've severely warped them or they are deeply gouged.

Update:

Front pads were down to 3mm
Rear pads down to 4mm

Dealer surfaced the lip off. Said they barely had to take any off the rotors.

well for 200 bucks and they cut that lip off and replaced pads that is a good deal.. very good..you should be good for 75K more miles...

cutting rotor surface with your rotor condition is not required ..
Toyota pads are looking great on my 2016 runner rotors are smooth like new.. aftermarket pads will effect braking effort and create groves in the rotor surface ..

Agree with others that you shouldn't need to turn them that soon unless you do heavy braking and they over heated. I'm at 150K on my 13 and got them turned yesterday since they have been warped for some time but barely able to work on it. Guessing atrac has been used too much and I know it's gotten really hot. Turn before replacing and replace after they've already been turned.

Must be nice living in a place where road salt doesn’t corrode the hell out of things. I’ve done rotors and pads on both front and back and I only have 110,000km/65,000 miles. I think I did them a couple years ago. Brutal.
