Do you like the non-functioning hood scoop?

I have one on my truck and like the way it looks. People lecture me about how it is a good thing and brings extra air into the engine, I just look away and try not to laugh.

I think it's stupid. Like breast implants, it's just wrong. (Seriously thinking of having a body shop flatten and fill mine.) Function over form.

Wouldn't that change be 'form over form' since neither form improves the function. I bet you could find another '16 owner that would swap in a heartbeat. Probably even the same color. I mean, if you were serious.:wink2:

I called Toyota parts and priced a hood without scoop. They said $500 for a bare steal replacement. I also may price body shop estimates at just flatttening and filling it. Not a priority right now but I may down the road. I do like your idea so will have to look into it. Thanks. As far as I'm concerned it's just a bug catcher.

If I had the same color SR5 or Limited, I'd swap in a heartbeat. Before I had a 4Runner the only ones I looked at had scoops. Trails, SportEditions, etc. It goes back to the days I used to own muscle cars. My Trans Am had a scoop and Z/28 had a cowl induction hood. Of course, both looked great and were functional. The 4R scoop just looks great.

I'm torn. I like the way it looks on my Trail. But I also wish it was functional...

Absofreakinglutely I like it! Looks great... My fav comment is that it has a cooling effect, in that it makes the truck look cooler lol. Thanks for posting up that light bar, what a great idea!

A new neighbor moved in, and I noticed that his '06 has the sport hood. I'm happy with my stock hood but did a quick Google search to price the option and found this thread.

To anyone making the no function = no good argument, I say chrome serves no function yet people still add it to their cars because they think it looks good. You have to admit that the T4R scoop looks a lot better than 99% of the chrome floating around out there. My vote = the scoop is cool. If I can score one on craigslist for a song, I'll buy it.
