I grew up with scoops used to have a 72 olds 442 and the scoops were functional. I like them on the 4runner but wish they did something besides add to looks.

Scoop for Sale
I'm in love with scoops; i just sold an '07 Tacoma TRD Sport that had a scoop and i'll be honest, the scoop sold me.
I wanted to give all you non-scoopers a heads up on eBay there is a new hood with scoop going for a good price. I'm still paying off the rest of the junk i put on my Runner so hopefully someone from this site will pick it up:

I love the scoop whether it is functional or not doesn't matter to me. Hell, look at all the Mustang GTs with non-functional scoops on the roads, not to mention a lot of other vehicles with non-functional scoops. Looks badass, even if they are not functional.
At the same time, I think a hood scoop looks a little funny on a RAV4, which I see from time to time. It's hard to get a badass look on a cute-ute like the RAV4.

The T4R hood scoop does look good, but generally I have to say I really only like scoops if they're functional - if they're fake, then it's posing - can't argue that one.
Aside: I've always liked Mustangs, but I can't get over their one stupid styling cue - the fake "scoops" in front of the rear fenders. Are these supposed to make it look rear-engined? Just dumb.

I like the scoop, makes the front end look not as bland IMO. Although I do agree with function over form for the most part, small styling cues like our scoops are ok. Thing that I can't stand are huge wings on the back of cavaliers and the like, those are rediculous.

To be honest, besides the 17" sport rims, the non-functioning hood scoop was one of my main reasons for buying my 4Runner. IMO it adds a lot to the front end and an overall more agressive look. Everytime I see another Sport (or UrbanRunner Fo Sheezy 
) I'm always impressed with how "mean" it looks. So, needless to say, yep I like the non-functioning scoop

Nautical Blue is the only color the hood scoop doesnt come in...
if you want one you will have to do it yourself... I have an SR5 in Nautical blue and I am currently in the process of upgrading her to the scoop hood. I will post pics once she is complete. She is getting painted right now.
