Dobinson shorter than Toytec rear springs?

Any thoughts here:
coming off are Toytec XD springs (2.5inch lift at 500-600lbs constant load)
Going on are Dobinson C59-329 (2.5 inch lift at 660-880lbs constant load depending on which description you read)
But the Dobinson are dramatically shorter than the Toytecs?

I would have thought they’d be close in length.

I guess it could be the Toytecs are squishier.

And of course can’t call Dobinson today to double check *♂️

You are correct. For the same applied load and resulting ride height, the lower spring rate (squishier) spring will be need to be longer/taller when unloaded.

This simple assessment only works so cleanly when analyzing linear rate springs.

Cool, thanks! That eases the mind, lol

that seems like a big diff though. i just went from the toytec superflex HD (2.0" Medium Load with 150 -200LBS additional weight) to the Dobinson C59-327 (2.0-2.25″ Heavy Load with 200-400 LBS additional weight) and there is no height difference at all when stood next to eachother.

that step up from the toytec hd's to the dob c59-327 is basically the equivalent jump you are doing but one weight class above.

the dobinsons both have a 410mm free height and 18mm wire diameter, just the spring rate is different between the two (286LBF/IN Spring Rate vs 271LBF/IN). toytec doesnt give any specs but i would think it would be similar with just the change in spring rate
