Dome light issue

I have a new problem that just started, when I open my rear hatch my dome light won’t come on automatically the light is in the auto position and the rear hatch lights come on along with my map lights but the dome light will not. Now when I open my doors any of them the dome light comes on automatically as it should and my map lights. Anyone else ever have this issue or have any insight?

Ok I read your post earlier and had no clue until I went to grab something out of my 4runner and and it happened to me. I did some playing around and this is what I came up with.

Your tailgate doesn't turn the dome light on at all, only the gate lights. When you unlock your doors with your remote to in turn unlock your gate that's what triggers the dome lights. So if you leave your truck unlocked for a while and then open the gate no dome lights. If you unlock with remote and then open the gate you get domes. Try it and let me know.

Interesting. Nothing comes on mine when I open the gate except the rear lights but I'll check again tomorrow just to be sure. Mine is a 16 Trd Pro.

Hmm sounds like a programming issue. Have you used any of the OBD scanner software, etc that others use to program different things?

No, I haven't used anything at all it was working one day and stopped the next!
