I feel very fortunate that my tastes are so refined. 3.4L Toyotas happen to come with the body shape I love, and they fall into a price range I can pay cash for, a very great combination for a guy who hadn't had a cell phone for 7 years prior to taking this new job because I wasn't going to pay a monthly payment when i could make calls over the internet for free.

Yep, just sink another 1 or 2 thousand into refreshing the things that wear out and you're good to go for another 100K miles or more. With all the knowledge from this forum you can keep on top of things and maintenance DIY so expensive problems don't happen, it's like getting a new 4X4 SUV for a quarter the price. I wouldn't want an actual new 2017 4x4 because it's all computerised and you can't do the stuff yourself.

Man, you have expensive tastes. Not that I have ever had a car payment, but if I had one that was $700/month I'd either have to be a balla or an idiot. I think I may just be incredibly cheap sometimes, because I find myself blown away by people with $300/month payments.

Hey, the price of vehicles keep getting higher and higher! I got my 4Runner for free99, but even these things would've been a pretty high payment back in the day. Tell her to be happy you repair everything, I had a nice down payment on my truck and still end up around $800 per month lol. If I had the time and know how I would've sunk a ton of money into building up my 4Runner.

Got the bearing pressed in last weekend, $80...sort of steep, but it is done...started to put things back together and realized the CV's were leaking on both inner boots....

Picked up lifetime's from NAPA after not seeing any major write ups stating OEM or death like ball joints and tie rods, so, for $72/side I will almost have a new front end after this project.
