Gave my Limited to a "Mechanic" old neighbor who had been asking me for some work before he moved. Told him my steering rack needed to be replaced, he was up for the job, no problem he says. I give him the new rack plus fluids.
He gives me back, broken sway bar end link on passenger side, squeaking belt (looks like the damn power steering pulley is not aligned!!), ****ED up tie rod ends (they were only about a year old OEM Toyota parts from my lift kit), he said they were bad when he pulled them, it's clear he pickle forked them and destroyed them, even after saying he had the same tool I do that saves the boots. Missing castle nut on passenger side, end link held in with cotter pin. Missing cotter pin on driver side. Steering wheel cocked 180 degrees.
To make matters worse, he said he'd have it done on a Sunday, two day turn around. He tells me he got bad news, it'll be done Tuesday. Comes and goes. Thursday I message and ask for my truck, he says he's on his way out of town! I tell him I NEED my truck, guy says he's sorry he'll rush right back and fix it for me, dying uncle, blah, blah... The above is what I picked up today!
I always do my own work, I enjoy the learning experience and luckily I have the means and time to do so. Lesson learned about tossing a bone to someone that bragged about being a "mechanic."

I think I'm more embarrassed with myself than pissed at him. Maybe I'm the dick... :shrug:
