“The heads of six major US intelligence agencies have warned that American citizens shouldn’t use products and services made by Chinese tech giants Huawei and ZTE. According to a report from CNBC, the intelligence chiefs made the recommendation during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday. The group included the heads of the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the director of national intelligence.”

The concern is that someone besides the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the director of national intelligence might spy on you?

I know that you meant that as sarcasm, but yeah, that is the concern. The problem is where your data gets uploaded to...public server somewhere in China’s black market where every one has access to? I don’t care about FBI/CIA/NSA having my info...but i do care if my info got on the black market where every African Prince (who wants to transfer money generously to your account), hacker, or 3rd party advertisers get to look at it.

Maybe they have it, maybe not...and that is why i use iPhone. BUT, IF they have it or could access it, then i am OK...i won’t lose sleep over it. I worry more about the “other” folks.

Good to know, but not surprised...anything with a 'connection' can be monitored and tracked...cars, TV, phones, etc.

I was surprised when people didn't know their phone calls/texting are tracked by the government...

Who controls the 'airwaves' and communication lines...THE FCC...FEDERAL Communication Commission...Federal...as in US Government. That's why if you go 'rouge' with your HAM radio...you get a nice visit from the men in black.

Also, contrary to popular believe, the internet was started not by Al Gore but by DARPA...again US Government...so who do you think is monitoring it?

Big Brother is watching...maybe H.G. Wells was right.
 
The same goes for any Chinese knockoffs of the I phones or Samsung's top sellers. They are super cheap for a reason.

It should be a given that the Three Letter Agencies have intrusive access to our smartphones. No, I'm not comfortable with this, but the key question here is whether or not we wish to grant additional access to our friends on the other side of the Pacific.
 
I have a Nexus 6P from Huawei and it is not a cheap phone. In fact it's been a solid phone for me for over a year and a half. Having the Chinese spy on me pales in comparison to what our own government does so who cares really?

I don't access my bank or investments on my phone and never have so I'm good.

The problem is where where China puts your info on? Black market? You may not have any sensitive info on your phone (i bet that you do)...but millions other Americans do. That’s the problem.

Even if it is not sensitive financial info that they collect on your phone, they may have access to your Contacts list and from there, they can socially mine all you come in contact with.

Name me a government on this planet that does not spy on their citizens to some degree.

Yeah again I'm not worried about it and I'm not going to get rid of a perfectly good phone because China may hack my phone. The whole thing is laughable really

Hopefully no one exploits it if you use mobile banking or enter CC information on it.

DID Hack / IS currently hacking; not may hack. If I were in your situation my reaction would be different, just my $0.02.

Name one that spies on it's citizens more then the US?

Remember that the NSA are the ones who created SELinux. Last decade the policy was included in the mainstream Linux kernel. It's meant to be a sandbox to prevent any unauthorized systems from gaining access to data.

Since it's inclusion into Linux that means that every embedded system running Linux now uses it. Those systems include your router, modem, all android phones, and just any other device that hooks to the net in your home.

Now, do you think the NSA didn't build a back door into it's own baby?

I think that you need to move to China, Iran, North Korea, and the likes...i hear that they don’t spy on you at all...certainly much less than USA!
