Door clunk/crack sound

When I open my drivers door it makes a loud CLUNK or CRACK sound every time it hits a different joint (?) on the hinge. It probably just needs some grease or something but it sounds painful and it's a bit embarrassing. If it is just grease, what kind should I use? (sorry for the idiotic question :D)

For the metal hinge, use white grease. You can find it at the local hardware store in either a small tub or they have a new kind that sprays on like liquid and immediately turns into grease.

Thanks slowginjoe, I'll give it a try tomorrow!

I got my truck back from the dealer yesterday after getting it serviced and the TSB taken care of (mentioned in another thread). I had them look at the door while it was there. The tech said the door hinge was really loose and that's why it was making the loud crack sound. Don't know how it would have got loose but after they tightened it up and put on a little grease it's as good as new.
