Are you sure? I just read Gates' interview on the news yesterday. He talked about vaccinations and the difficult times we live in. A pandemic was mentioned between the lines and two years. Two years! I am more and more convinced that Covid is pure politics.

The N95 filters down to .6 microns, the WuFlu is 0.06-0.16 microns. Might as well strap a fishnet across your face to block drywall dust.
I constantly wonder why commons sense of mask proponents have yet to look to what virologists wear. They are in positive displacement hoods, with supplied filtered air, or at a minimum TIGHT fit respirators with extremely small pore cartridges rated as such.
Anything loose fit does not work.
If you feel I or others should "wear the damn mask", stay home and live a long sheltered miserable life of fear. Bacteria and Viruses are always all around us and are a constant in life that I won't live in fear of.

Your entitled to your opinion, as we all are. This is how a lot of people felt right up to the time they contracted the covid 19 and gave it to there whole family in which several of them died. Now if it was just you that contracted it, and had to live or die is one thing, but sacrificing others for your stupidity is another.

You’re wasting your time and energy firing blanks here. You should write letters in this tone, with this venom, to the ones who forced wuflu positive patients into nursing homes, and to those who denied HCQ to wuflu patients. About half the covid deaths in NY were nursing home residents.
I'm lucky in that my hospital buddy gave me a few new N95 masks back in 2019 when we were painting my shed with some high VOC stuff plus epoxy flooring. I saved the excess and use them now, and I know how to fit them to my face.
The problem is we have too many brainwashed twits who don't wear any masks....some wear them when forced to and leave them off their noses. I'll be happy to double mask even over my N95 mask. This is scary stuff. I have never personally known anyone to die off the flu or hit the ER even, but this has changed last year and continues to.

Speaking of twits... N95 masks don't filter out VOC vapor. So you did yourself the same amount of good as wearing a mask to fight Wuflu... none

Yeah well, it saved me from all the sawdust powder from that treated wood at least. I actually have a respirator too, that I have started to use for VOCs. It is rather crazy feeling to wear it but I do when painting with anything not low VOC.

Think about it for a moment. The virus doesn’t exist by itself when it’s expelled from a human. It’s in droplets of spit from a cough or sneeze or talking. They are relatively heavy and fall to the ground quickly, hence the 6 foot distance recommendation.
What has recently been observed is that more virus particles are ejected just by normal exhaling. The water vapor expelled in normal breathing is loaded with virus particles that float around for a long time. Therefore the recommendation to dine outside, use HEPA filtration and better air flow inside.
And wear a mask. They don’t filter the virus. They catch and hold the water droplet or water vapor that you are expelling. On the way out of you and into you from someone else. They don’t work perfectly but they reduce the free floating particles.
I wear an N95 type mask whenever working on brakes, doing home repair/upgrades in the attic, or plumbing under the house crawl space. Any dusty environment, sometimes for many hours. Wearing one for 20 minutes to pick up a loaf of bread and six pack from the grocery store is no big deal.

Not sure if it makes you feel less scared, but I had this virus already last January, before pandemic was officially announced. I was down for 3 days with high temperature, dry cough, sore throat and lost sense of smell. My family doctor gave me antiviral medication and I was back normal in 2 days. We didn't know about masks at the time of course, but I didn't infect anybody at work (presumably I was supposed to carry virus few days before I got symptoms). And I didn't infect anybody at home. So basically if you take precautions as you do every flu season chances are that you'll be fine. Wear mask of course and don't get close to people, but even if you got infected death rate is very low, unless of course you're old and have bad health.

Yeah I had it too while on deployment in Afghanistan last summer. I had a fever and a headache for about a day, sore throat and some body aches for about a week and then nothing. And I didn't get any medicine or anything, and was in a windowless room by myself for a week and was fine. Everybody I met who also had it had pretty light symptoms like mine other than one Colonel who was older. And my brother just barely got over it with no symptoms but loss of smell and taste for a couple weeks. So if you're relatively healthy/not obese, and are under 70, chances are you'll be fine if you do get it. Obviously take the precautions you feel are necessary, but not worth losing your mind over. But that's just my opinion [emoji2373]

That’s a good question. Maybe after the infection rate peaks then shows a sustainable decrease someone will figure it out. The 1918 flu pandemic had 4 waves and is reported to have lasted from Feb 1918 to April 1920. Not sure what their metrics were to determine that. There was no vaccine back then, or antiviral drugs. Hopefully the covid-19 pandemic doesn’t last that long.
Well, if you're asking when the WuFlu will end, never. It's like asking when the flu pandemic ends. It's a virus. It will always be around. Now if you're asking when restrictions on citizens due to the WuFlu, they should have never started. When governments find a way to gain control over their population, how often to they relenquish that control voluntarily?

I believe that one metric that has been suggested is 75% of population vaccinated.
And vaccines and masks have something in common. Getting the vaccine and wearing a mask protect others. Particularly those who cannot get the vaccine because of medical problems and those who cannot wear a mask because of medical problems.
I have had one dose of the vaccine already and will get a second soon. I will continue to wear a mask because we do not yet know if I could still infect someone else. And in addition, no one I pass on the street will know that I have been vaccinated and not wearing a mask would piss them off.
Just a side note here. The people ranting against masks here are prime candidates for my ignore list.

Just because something is a virus doesn't mean it will always be around. Example 1 smallpox, a virus that was eradicated through vaccination. Example 2 polio, eradicated in the US through vaccination. Flu is different because it's a new strain every year.
