Well I decided I would finally bite the bullet and make one of these suckers.

Lets start off with a brief history.
- My mother bought this Fully Unloaded 4runner back in 1999 brand new, for some reason we didn't need 4x4 or an interior that was at least a little more comfortable than that of a cargo van. But, it is still a 4runner! So she put 100k miles on it between 1999 and 2005, then she made the ungodly mistake of giving it to my brother. He manged to crash it a few times, and somehow got the starter to burst into flames. Anyways, I got the 4runner, believe it or not I saved it from going to the dump, it was in a huge state of disrepair.

At that point I was hooked, and started first my changing all the old crappy fluids, and then started the old Aerosol overhaul.

Here is a picture of what I had it looking like at the end of last summer, complete disaster.

Then we got some snow

Fast forward to this spring, I had added some bigger Front Tokico Coilovers and bought 5 Treadwright 30" M/Ts. At this point I also added the AirLift 1000 to help get rid of rear sag and carry a load without resting on my bump stops.


And this is why I HATE mud

After that disaster, I stopped off roading until I was ready to go to Uwharrie for the first time this season. I ended up going with Singtoe, and I VERY glad I did, we had a blast.

Well thankfully I met Singtoe, because he knows a plethora of information about Toyotas and is always more than willing to help me.

We started off by installing cutting brakes, which allows me to do SO much more off road.

Well after the cutting brakes I decided I wanted to lift the 4runner next. I picked up some OME 891's from YCRunner at the T4R.ORG Uwharrie meet. Later I also bought the OME NitroChargers for a great deal from Durrell on the forum. For the front I went with an aluminum 2.5" spacer for the time being.

We also found out that when flexed the driveshaft rubbed the gas tank...bad. Nothing Singtoe and a Sawzall can't take care of.

So that brings us to where we are now, here are a couple recent shots

I also found these 16's for free on Craigslist, which I will be mounting my 265/75/16 Guard Dogs onto this coming week.

I also ordered some Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers! I will post pics of the tires this afternoon

Okay so here are the (4) 265/75/16 Treadwright Guarddogs that I will be mounting on Thursday when my wheel spacers get here.

I also made a gigantic rear storage thing. It has two big drawers and two big storage compartments. It holds all my junk, gives me some weight for the 891's too.

This is the OME 891's compared to Downy Offroad lift spring on the right. The OME is taller but has less coils.

i admire the time u put into this thing man. those wheels and rims will make a huge difference..thats a whole 2 inches almost ur adding onto tire-wise. It will look great man trust me

Cutting Brakes installation

There was already a thread on this but this is DOUS's build thread, so I figured It is always good to have more pictures.

Here Goes!:driving:

The stock parking break handle.

I cut the transmission tunnel to accept another ebrake bracket

Here are the cable brackets in the tunnel.

Here is the Brake handles installed side by side.

After trimming the console, I reinstalled it over the brake handles.

Well good news today,

-The Spidertrax Spacers came in this afternoon, and I went ahead and installed them with the tires and wheels I have now.

-New wheels and tires going on tomorrow!

Haven't had time to get any really good pictures, ignore the stupid time stamps. I got the tires put on and so far I have been super happy with them, they are the Treadwright Guard Dogs.

Haha yea I got rid of the roof stuff, just wanted to see if I liked a different look. I think I might go down to Uwharrie next week, in for another trail ride?

Well I went to Uwharrie National Forest today to do a little shake down test. Did very well, no clearance issues, maybe I wasnt trying hard enough?

I didn't get very many pictures, but here they are anyway.

Nice job on the 4runner so far and im liking the cutting brakes thing... i may have to end up doing that since im a poor student too and cant afford to 4wd swap it right now.
