I was investigating a front end noise today and noticed the drive shaft to the front wheels looks like it has recently moved (expanded and went back). Is this normal. I recently engaged my 4 wheel drive for the first time in a long time.
That's called the slip yoke, and yes, it's supposed to do that so your driveshaft doesn't impale your t-case and diff. As far as the noise, can you describe what you are hearing?
