Driver door handle won't open door anymore?

I pulled up the driver door handle yesterday to get in my truck and I couldn't get in. Something came off inside the door. I took off the door panel and this yellow plastic piece that keeps a metal rod in place was cracked. See photo. Anyone know what I need to order? The piece looks like it's just there to keep the metal rod from falling out.

Yea. I did but that plastic clip is cracked and it worked for a few times hen snapped off again. I need a new yellow plastic clip. Not sure of part #. You know?
 
I don't its a dealer part. I would just call your local dealer they probably stock them. They break all the time

Make a small notch on the plastic and tie it to the metal rod with a metal wire.
Any toyota door handle carries this plastic tab and they are all same size. Ebay sells 90+ corolla door handles for $5 shipped and just pull off the yellow plastic tab.

OK, I got lucky and my dealer was able to find out what it was. A lot of the pieces in there are color-coded and it even said it was a yellow plastic piece in their computer for a whopping $2.40. They'll have it in tomorrow. Thanks!

That's a good idea with the metal wire to hold you over, if you can't wait for your dealer to get the piece in or wait for delivery.
 
Well, the dealer ordered the wrong clip in! I did the metal wrire trick as I can't keep going in through the passenger side! I'll have them order the correct clip and keep it as a spare if the metal wire doesn't last...

There are only two clips, the white and the yellow. How did they screw this up?!

They ordered the smaller yellow clip that mounts behind the inner door handle (which holds a smaller metal bar), and not the yellow clip for the exterior door handle which holds the bigger/thicker bar....:brick:

Really? I've had my truck for 17 years & never broke one.
(now I'll break one tomorrow)
 
Mike broke when I pulled the handle up as far as it could go with a little more force than normal. But again, my truck is 19 years old. My bet is we start hearing of others breaking around this time frame now....
 
I broke one swapping out the door lock actuator motors. It was a few months ago so I don't remember what I did but it seems like every time I touch a plastic clip/part/etc. in my Runner it breaks. Ordered one from the dealer and was back up and running a few days later...PITA!
