Drove a 4Runner For the first Time Today

Arrived from Massachusetts yesterday. Had to go with a consolidator since the dealership was closing until April and I only found out about it the night before.
This was literally the last vehicle to leave the dealership before they closed.

Now when the DMV opens May 30 we'll get plates and pay the taxes etc.

This is a really nice truck and has exceeded my expectations already. The reviewers complain about the interior being dated etc. I like it. It's functional and put together well. I really like the Nav. system. It's very easy to use with my iPhone 11 Pro. The screen is a good size.


I ordered Husky liners yesterday. $119. It's weird they only take PayPal. No credit cards. I compared them to WeatherTech's liners, which we have been using since 1994, and because the liners covered the dead pedal all the way to the top and went farther under the gas and brake I chose Husky.

Very nice, and congratulations. I was this close to going with Barcelona Red because it and Nautical Blue both look great in the sun. I'm sure the dealership appreciated the sale under current conditions, too. Enjoy!

Congrats, Rich! That's at least two red SR5s sold in NJ this year I hope the DMV opens up again before May 30th for you. Of course, God willing that current events blow over quicker than hoped for. You're missing out! I got mine a month before you, and I'm all set with plates and registration and everything. Definitely good to drive

Now that the DMV is closed until April 12 I don't know how I will get a plate, temp plate or some thing that will let me take it out on the road. Massachusetts does not have temp plates so I didnt get any when I bought the truck. That would have been ok if the DMV was open in New Jersey.

Anybody have any ideas?

I was setting up the Toyota App for my new truck and I noticed they call the interior on my truck

"Black W/ Matte Bamboo"

Its definitely black and grey and when I googled it several vehicles in dealerships all over the country came up with this too and their pictures showed the same black and grey as mine.

What's up with this?

Unfortunately, I have no idea about your situation. If there's nothing noted online about it on the DMV website, then maybe there's someone at DMV HQ that you could call.

Husky floor liners arrived today. I was a little concerned about how stiff they were compared to my wife's WeatherTech's. After they warmed up they got better. Before I put them on the floor Ill leave them in the truck in the sun so they soften up.

looking past some of the drama, this was a very informative thread. I too am looking at purchasing a 4Runner in the near future (once the stay at home order is lifted in Colorado). I will be spending a lot of time on this forum to get as much information as I can before my purchase. Once I'm allowed I will be putting up my own thread with specific questions. Good to know, I do plan on doing a lift in the future, however that will most likely be after a couple of other mods like headlights, intake, roof rack, etc. I really got to get educated on lifts and what is needed and what is not.

Im 6' 2" and I don't have to sit on the floor to fit. (mine has a sun roof too)
