thanks for this post, i am planning on doing a dual battery mod and this will be most helpful. are you running the stock electrical system completely off the starting battery and any and all mods of the support battery?
No. A bigger alternator would just help with running high electrical loads when the engine is running. The advantage with dual batteries is you can run electrical accessories without the engine running using the deep cycle battery, but still have the main battery available to start the engine. The wiring setup isolates the starting battery automatically when the engine stops.would installing a bigger alternator(cs144) have the same effect as have two batteries?

It was an idea that i was throwing around to get more power with out needing to rev my engine, but i definitely see where you are coming from. It would be kinda pointless to have a second battery just to drain both and still be stuck.
Electrical isnt my strongest subject. I understand how it works but figuring out the best way to route stuff and power required over time and all that hurts my brain after a while. Thanks for the info.
How much was it?
