Dune Flag/Whip Mount Ideas

I'm wondering how everyone here is mounting their dune safety whips. I'd like to keep it toward the back end..

Right now I'm considering a hole through the factory roof rack crossbar, with some big washers, but concerned that they won't handle the force while driving.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

at my dunes (silver lake in MI) it has to be mounted towards the front. the point is so someone see's the flag before your front bumper coming over a hill. you might get away with it on the roof rack depending on your rules but if its public orv i doubt it.

i just have a 8 x 1 scrap steel bar that comes out from my factory tow hook with u bolts. it swivels under when not in use.

ill be taking mine into the dunes here at Pismo Beach, i need to mount a flag somewhere as well. I just dont know where or how yet. Was hoping to find some pics.

Anyone have any pictures and/or suggestions on how and where you would put a whip mount bracket?

I have a '14 4R. Getting ready for dune season. In this area (Glamis and Gordons Well, CA sand dunes) the whip is placed on the rear of vehicle.

i went with a hitch mount which you can do a 1" PVC pipe or a small whip flag.

My friend has used Sticky Whips before, it suctions to your paint. if that doesnt scare you then thats a good option as well.

Well I have mine attached to my Baja Rack. It's a little bit low attached to the bumper. So I'd go for a hood or rear hatch gutter bracket that is like 1/2 way up the vehicle or just right to your rack. See if you can buy or make a bracket that will bolt into the main rails.

I will follow up on this thread on what we come up with to mount my whip. I have a 5' whip already so we have to figure a way to mount it to the top or close to the top of the 4R. We'll see.......

I have always used Stickywhips suction cup flag mounts. Work well for me. I would only go to paint if you were absolutely positive that the surface was clean. otherwise I would just put it to the rear glass. Gets the flag up higher as well. Check them out.
