Dynomax mufflers?

Stuck CAPS

Does anyone have any experience with these mufflers? Do they sound good, ricey, or have drone? Do they last long? I found a Set of two, where one has some dings, but the other is alright for 15. Wondering if they're worth installing.

I had a Dynomax muffler pretty similar to that one on my last car, a 190e 2.3-16 Mercedes, and I did not care for it. I know its not a 4runner so results may be different, but to me it muffled all the wrong frequencies, and ended up sounding odd. The second one you listed will definitely be louder, as its a straight through, where as the dynomax is a turbo style with baffles that slow down and quiet the exhaust. I also think the second one would sound better, it just might be a bit loud

EDIT: Just realized that those dynamax's are straight through. Both are pretty similar mufflers in the end.

I've run them before and currently am running the VT on my 4Runner and I love them. They are excellent for the price and they claim to outflow everything else in their price range.

Do you get a nice tone? Is it loud? Is it stock sounding?

Well the tone is very subjective of course, but I think they sound great. They give a deep mellow tone similar to a Flowmaster as opposed to a higher racier tone like a Magnaflow. I like it. The VT I'm running now is quiet at idle and while cruising and only gets nasty under load. That is exactly what I wanted which is why I bought the VT "No Drone" muffler that they offer.

Damn, they're expensive though. I'm thinking about the full boar, as it has pretty much the same design, but is very cheap.. It's apparently on par with the FM40.

I don't think they are expensive. I paid $83 bucks for my VT muffler from Summitt Racing. All the FM mufflers I looked at were a lot more. And I'm not a big FM fan. They are notorious for rusting, and also have been shown to reduce low end torque on many V8 applications. I will never use one again.

If I recall, the stock muffler on mine was 2.5" center in/2.5" offset out/28" shell length.
