I have an E-locker I had originally purchased to install in a 1st gen 4Runner some years back. Decided since I had to replace the axle seals I would go ahead and do the swap in my 97 4Runner. I bought a stock housing for the e-locker and got everything re-built and the locker installed.
The issue comes when I try to reconnect the drive-line.. the bolt holes on the e-locker flange are too small.
SO I think I have a few choices and want to get some opinions.
A> Swap the flanges which would require unbolting the pinion nut at the least. If this is the way, can it be done with the 3rd in the axle and will I have to replace the crush sleeve, etc?
B>Swap out the end of the drive-line with a bracket that matches the bolt size and use smaller bolts. My concern is the bolts are probably bigger on my truck to compensate for the V6 and the other concern is will the other bracket even fit on the drive-line (difference in U-joint size?).
C>Just use smaller bolts. My concern is movement between the drive-line and the flange since the bolt holes on the drive-line would be larger than the bolt themselves.
D>Drill out the flange holes to fit the stock bolts for my truck.
SO what do you think? Anyone come across this before (couldn't seem to find an example of this via the search).
